God With Us

If we think back to Abraham we see one of the signs given to us by God, that points to Jesus. According to the Bible there are almost 1,000 years between creation of the Garden of Eden to Noah’s Flood. Then after the flood waters went down, there were about 1,000 years until Abraham was born. During those +/- 2,000 years from creation to Abraham, God spoke many times, and intervened in earth’s history many times. You could almost say that God has been “with us” many times before He came in the flesh. God has been “for us” since before creation. God spoke about the need for a lamb to be slain before the foundation of the world. Then He spoke the first gospel to Adam, Eve, and the serpent in the Garden. Then this “good news,” of a coming sacrifice and rescue mission by the “Redeemer,” was passed on, from generation to generation, by word of mouth from parents to children. God had a personal conversation with Noah, and later with Job, and Abraham. These personal conversations continued with many more Old Testament saints during this time period. God also made covenants with Adam, Noah, Abraham, and Moses. Moses received God’s Law in a conversation with God on a mountain. God also spoke with Daniel, Isaiah, and many other prophets. All of this insured that the Word of God was passed down through many more generations. It also insured that there was plenty of evidence pointing to God’s plan for anybody to see. Then, the “WORD became flesh,” (God with us), and brought good news of a new covenant. Jesus had many conversations with many people, especially the twelve disciples.
